Balanced Equine, St Michaels

Balanced Equine is based at St Michaels, located between St Andrews, Cupar and Dundee, in Scotland. Balanced Equine offers fantastic facilities for starting young horses and general training. The facilities include:

Outdoor Arena

A 60x25 meter, extremely well-draining, dirt arena with show jumps. This securely fenced arena on sandy soil has stood up to the weather exceptionally well with daily use. Its size means its possible to practice both long and short arena dressage tests. In the future we plan to install lighting.

Round Pen

The round pen is an invaluable piece of equipment for horse training by Balanced Equine. It provides a safe environment where Join-up can be performed and also where the horse can be safely introduced to their first saddle, long lines and rider. Our round pen is made from high quality galvanised steel, is 6’6″ in height and 50′ in diameter. It is lightweight and the individual panels can be used to assist with loading issues. It is also useful for restricted turnout.

Perimeter Riding Track

Around the perimeter of the property we have a riding track that offers a safe place for hacking, fittening work and interval training. A great, safe place for an introduction to hacking and a leg stretch. There are some logs to jump on the track and we plan to add more cross country schooling fences to a section of the track.

Stabling

Safe and secure, fully rubber matted stables with windows so the horses can always see each other. Straw is included.

Turnout

A variety of larger and smaller secure paddocks with electric fencing providing year-round turnout. Our sandy soil means that we get virtually no mud so turnout is available 24/7. Hay is provided in the fields.

Hacking

Just half a mile* from the yard there is access to Core Paths inside of St Michaels woods. We are less than 5 miles from Tentsmuir Forest and Beach where you can box to for miles of off road hacking options. Our perimeter track offers safe, on site hacking.

*The half mile stretch is a busy ‘A’ road and even though the speed limit for the entire stretch is 30mph extreme caution should be taken.
